Coming Soon: Alchemical by Timothy Kadish

Alchemical is an exhibition of paintings by artist Timothy Kadish. The works narrate a story of creation, a story without time. Kadish paints rich tapestries of varied media inspired by a marriage of art, science, and myth. Through prominent and interrelating iconographies, marks and symbols, the paintings yield a familiar literacy, yet seemingly unattainable translation.

“Timothy Kadish explores the nature of the contemporary icon in vibrant, polytextural fields of color stocked with a playful assortment of received images. Blips from video-game screens, doodled-over pages from children's books, apples that seem equal parts hi-tech and pentateuch -- these symbols and others recur in the paintings alongside swaths of tar, cement and sculpted lead as testaments to Kadish's profound respect for a contemporary visual mythology that inhabits the public and private collections of signs. Guided by this respect and an acute sense of visual semantics, Kadish forms totemic artifacts for the present age with icons drawn from the world he encounters.”
